Tonight is my splurge night for the week with a fine meal and an evening at the Sydney Opera House. I’m very excited to be seeing Carmen, an opera i have yet to see live.

Sadly, its raining so my harborside restaurant is less appealing and scenic and I feel damp and less glamorous than I hoped to feel this evening.

Still, I’m having my first cider of the trip. Cider is pretty big here, usually on tap, but they drink it over ice. Its also upwards of $10 a glass, as are the beers. Cocktails run closer to $20.
I’m also trying kangaroo fillet for the first time. The kangaroo was good, like steak fillet.

There will be no shot of the front of the Opera House, as its under construction and virtually in shambles. So here’s another picture of the harbor facing side
