April 13 marks the start of the solar year and Thailand celebrates this with the Songkran water festival. Think one big national water fight, complete with super soakers and water buckets.
Thai people have a happy-go-lucky attitude so its hard not to play along. I must admit, the tourists are some of the more obnoxious revelers, so we tended to move away from areas where they congregated.
Overall, this made for a fun couple of days and I felt it made the trip even more special.
