My second day in Thailand- we decided to go up Nekkerd to Big Buddha. We came out of our bungalow to find a nice lady asking if we needed a taxi. The taxis have set prices published all over Phuket so we knew how much it should be to get there, but we missed breakfast so I wanted to eat an early lunch at a place I’d read about called Seaview on the way up the mountain. Miss On said she could take us, with the stop and also wait for us at Big Buddha to bring us back for 1000 baht. That’s about $28 at the current exchange rate.

We were driven (with A/C, yay!) about 35 minutes from Kata Beach to Phuket Town and then up the mountain. We didn’t find the right “Seaview” restaurant, but found a great family place right below the Buddha. Super sweet people, excellent food and my first try at Thai “wit-gee”(whiskey).

After a leisurely lunch, Miss On took us the rest of way and told us where she’d meet us when we were done. Here are some pix from the top of the mountain and Big Buddha. We definitely want to go back and maybe have the monks bless something.
